Farewell!

 Hello, my dears!

In fact, we can see this post as a farewell post. We have come to the end of another academic term. It was both challenging and enjoyable for me to meet and share with you for the second time.

I actually love this lesson. Because I am really learning things that will contribute to and benefit me both as a student and as a teacher. But of course, there are parts that I have difficulty with. For example, some topics; really challenged me to understand and prepare like flipped teaching material. Maybe it's because I haven't heard of it before.

But when we look, we learn something from the things that are already challenging us. I can admit that the subjects and tasks of this term were really tiring and challenging compared to the previous term.

I would also like to thank you for being with me for another term and witnessing my progress.

I wish you a happy day!

Creating A WebQuest

 Hello everyone

My task this time was really enjoyable. I created a WebQuest. Yes, it's actually the first time I've heard of it too.

First of all, we started by choosing a unit from the link given by our teacher. We chose the unit named old times. And we wanted to move forward from ancient Greece. We decided on our topic after thinking about it a bit.

Actually, I think the trick to creating a WebQuest is to be planned. We (I say we, because this time I worked with my friend Merve too) first made our plan, wrote our articles, and then combined them all.

But every job has a hard part. The hardest part for us was deciding which site to use. We eliminated several sites by trial and error and decided on Zunal as the best option.

Let's come to our WebQuest, you can reach it here. I hope you like it and maybe even create it too :)

Creating A AR/VR Integrated Material

Hello again!

This time, we had to design a material that would integrate artificial intelligence into our classroom. While doing this, we had pairs and I worked with my friend Merve.

First of all, I would like to talk about the terms we will use and see in this week's lesson. AR adds digital content in real time by continuing to interact with the real world. VR, on the other hand, focuses on a purely virtual environment and disconnects from the real world. While AR offers a hybrid experience where the real world and virtual content merge, VR creates a completely different sense of reality.

In fact, thanks to these conveniences provided by technology, we can seem to have visited and seen places we have never been before. Our task was actually aimed at this. My friend Merve and I chose the city of London, which is one of our favorites. And we prepared a little tour for our students to a few places. There is a QR code in our brochures. When this code is read, it directs us to a virtual tour of the place we have chosen. When we look at the brochures, there are photos of the places, little information about them, and a few questions that will make the students think.

I think it was fun to do. It really gives me pleasure to design materials that I can use in the future because they are useful. It also motivates me to be a teacher.

I hope you will like these materials that we have made fun of and that we think will contribute to us when we become teachers in the future. This is my friend Merve's blog.

Now, let's see! Here is our material:

Creating a Flipped Teaching Video

Hello again, this time I had a task related to the flipped classrooms. We had to prepare a teaching video for our students.

I worked with my friend Merve on this task. It was a difficult task because I had to listen to my own voice in the first place... for me it is intolerable. Preparing the animation, adjusting the sounds, recording, combining them.. it was all really challenging. Deciding which site to use was the same. Each site had its pros and cons. We struggled especially when trying to find a character the way we wanted.

Finally, we decided to use a site called Animaker while doing the homework. First, we determined which words we would use, then we chose the appropriate environments for them. Then we prepared a script. Merve and I sang this article in order and added it to the video.

Here is our flipped teaching video:

This is my first time doing something like this so I was very inexperienced. But I really like this idea. I think it will work for me in the future.

Corpus-Based Teaching Material

    Hello everyone!

My task this time was to prepare Corpus-based teaching material. It was one of the tasks that I really struggled with because corpus was a part that I was not familiar with and that I had not encountered much before. In fact, at first, I wasn't even sure exactly what to prepare.
By the way, I worked with my friend Merve. In the material we have prepared, students will be able to understand the difference between the words advice and advisee by using the corpus. We chose to use the site called "Skell" because we thought it would be less complicated for our students.
In fact, the corpus is a system that contains many words, phrases, and synonyms. Therefore, it is, of course, very useful for language learners. Sometimes they can remember a word even from the words used next to them or their synonyms. So, we wanted to use it in our worksheets.
In my opinion, one of the most important ways to learn a language is to learn vocabulary. The more words you know, the more benefits you get. That's why I would like to include corpus material in my classes in the future.
You can see the material we have prepared below.

And here are the worksheets we used in our material:

Creating A Timeline

A Digital Timeline on the History of Technology in Language Learning

Hi everyone!
In the first task of this term, I created a timeline. This is a timeline that examines the evolution of language teaching technologically. In fact, thanks to this timeline, I have seen what has changed technologically from the past to the present.
All in all, it was an enjoyable task. The most challenging thing was reading and taking notes from several different articles and putting them in chronological order.
I used Canva because it's actually the least complicated site with some really nice templates.
Ah, the thing that scared me the most was that the few images I used were from premium content. Before I started making the timeline, I needed to check these features and find out what the site enables for free. I hope I don't repeat this mistake.
And, you can see the timeline below:

Hello Again To Y'all

 I'm Back

I continue to blog this semester!

I took a new course on technology and material design this semester. That's why I will continue to publish my posts on this blog.

I forgot how much fun blogging actually is. The lesson I took this semester seems a little more difficult than the previous one, but we will still see its benefits. We'll see together!

Final Post

Hello everyone!

That is my final entry about my lecture. At first, I thought that we are gonna make boring things. But thanks to our tasks I have so much fun. Also, writing blog entries gets me more excited every time.

In general, this course is for both my teaching and learning life. In today's world, we live together with technology. That is to say, as a future teacher, I need some skills to use technology in my classes. With this course, I learned how can I integrate some tools or renovation into my classes. Using websites, podcasts, using wikis contrıbuted me.

At my first entry, I asked myself some questions. I believe that right now, I can answer them. I tried to look at the topics from the perspective of both a future teacher and a student. And the homework I've done provided an environment for this. Cause in general, they were suitable for both of them.

The tasks I liked most were the podcast and the film review. As for the reasons, I would say they were amusing. I had to think deeply in a way. For the film review, you can choose any movie you want then write your opinions. The podcast requires more people cause we did something like an interview. So, it was so interactive.

Lastly, I can say that I have improved on technology. Most importantly, I have a blog page. After that course, I can continue to write about anything I want!

See You!

Digital Storytelling

Hello to all!

My task this time was to create a digital story. I worked with my classmate Merve. If you wanna see her blog, you can reach it from here. We decided to make a "how-to" video about piercing. Cause she has one.

First, we made a plan about what we gonna do. Then we get all the things we'll need while recording the video. After having all of them, we started to record ourselves step by step. We had so much fun in the process. After the video, we record our voices. In the voice records, we explained how-to clean your piercing. Then we stick them together by using "after effects". We get help from a friend to use this tool. The only negative thing about that tool is that it is not free. It has an easy structure. And here is our video.

Digital storytelling is a hard thing to do. It will help advanced learners, yes. But not for the young learners, I suppose. Because you need to make plans with other people. You should be creative. Also, you should speak the target language enough. Moreover, using the tools for editing videos can be hard for some students. I believe that not all students like to work with such tools on the internet.

In general, it may be compelling. But of course, it helps you to improve your skills. Skills like speaking, creative thinking, collaborating. In the language classroom, you also have a chance to become more familiar with the target language.

Creating an Infographic

Hello,

I just created an infographic for the first time. It was fun tho. Since it's my first experience, I'm not sure if it's done properly.

I used a tool called Venngage. My task didn't take much time. It was easy to create things actually. You can choose different kinds of templates. There are many templates and images to use.

Firstly, I did a little research then I had five different tips. So, I applied them to the template I had chosen. After that, I found pictures that matches the tips. That's all.

It's useful for language learners. Cause you gotta do research first. Then you should write your own sentences or ideas. You both think and write in the target language.

Here is my infographic, hope you'll like it!

Movie Poster

 Hi everyone!

This time I have worked on a visually impressive project. I was supposed to create a movie poster. The movie should be about the book that I've been reading lately. I am the one who advertises it. I chose ''The Red-Haired Woman''. Cause it has an impressive plot I suppose.

I used Canva to make my poster. It is an easy tool, I can say. You choose what you gonna do. Then there are many options for the item you choose. To use some items you need to have a premium account, but with the free version, I was able to complete my task.

When it comes to using it for my future students, I would say yes. I believe that students like doing this kind of activity. Besides, it augments their creativity. It requires them to make the editing. They try to reflect their imagination to a page. We can say they need to visualize it first. So, they also boost their critical thinking skills. But using such tools or websites may be hard for some age groups. It depends on their level of English too. Cause it requires such things as taglines or catchwords.

It may look kind of amateur but it was my first experience. You can see my movie poster below. I hope you'll like it!

Internet-Based Project

Hello, Hello

This time I have worked on ''padlet''. Our main subject was internet websites, thanks to padlet we could easily create work page and completed our task. Padlet is a useful tool. I knew it beforehand.

Using Padlet is fun. I'll definitely use it in my future classes. Students can use their creativity and make any visual design they want. They can also see what their friends have done and get inspired. So, Padlet helped us. The only disadvantage is that it looks a bit complicated.

On the internet, we have numerous sources. The thing is deciding which one is an accurate and reliable source. We had to think before we put our resources on our padlet page. Researching on the internet is therefore beneficial. You should investigate, check and compare. Both the resources and the information.

The challenging part was the embedding part as in any task. Since I'm not used to it, I'm struggling.

Padlet is a creative tool. And, adding the searching part, this task becomes more beneficial in terms of 21'st century learning skills. You can use your creativity while using Padlet. When it comes to surfing on the internet, you should think critically. Because; you need to choose your sources carefully.

Here is our padlet page.

The Others Film Review

Hello again!

My task this time was a film review. I chose the one called The Others. It is a creepy and thriller. I watched it last month, I suppose. It scared me, yes, but it also made me think. While I was watching the movie, I started to wonder about the story behind it. It takes place in a ''haunted house''. So, you unintentionally keep thinking about its story. There should be a story behind it!

Writing a film review on a wiki page is a bit hard for me because this is my first time. But, in general, it is fun. You can choose any film you want.  Using wikis looks complicated too. But you can get used to it over time. In the future, I would give such tasks to my students. They can have fun and learn at the same time.

If you would like to see my wiki entry, you can reach it from here.
